Germaine participated in the American Cancer Society’s “Look Good Feel Better” program to better understand the issues that women face when experiencing medical-related hearing loss. She volunteered as a wig stylist, fitter, and class facilitator at the local hospital, where she met many amazing women battling various types of cancer. These women desperately wanted to keep their hair, but were unable to do so due to chemotherapy treatments that resulted in thinning or loss of hair.
Through her interactions with these women, Germaine learned that when facing a life-threatening illness like cancer, one’s appearance is incredibly important. Looking and feeling the best you can is essential. This volunteer work inspired Germaine to find ways to address hair loss without surgery.
With this goal in mind, Germaine decided to collaborate with a well-known international wig company that offered wigs for women dealing with alopecia. Though these wigs were beautiful and well-constructed, they were very costly for the average woman to afford. As a certified hair loss replacement specialist, Germaine was committed to addressing the issue of hair loss experienced by individuals due to medical conditions.
